You can look up verse mapping and find any number of ways to approach this type of study of individual bible verses.
This is one way I map the long sentences of Peter and Paul. I highlight important words, look for early parts of the sentence that point to later parts of the sentence. I look to see who is doing what and why. I look for the central idea.

The point of doing this is for you to come away with a better understanding of what you just read. It is easy to skim along and read without coming away with any knowledge of what you just read. This is one way to spend time pondering (or we could even call it “meditating”) on the verse before us.
